This year, two members of our Board of Directors will reach the end of their three-year terms. Both incumbents have expressed their intention to stand for re-election; their biographies will be provided below.
Call for Nominations by Petition
If you would like to be considered for one of the two open seats on the Board of Directors, you may run by submitting a petition signed by 500 members to:

Requirements & Deadlines:
Deadline: Petitions must be received by April 21, 2026.
Eligibility: Candidates must be a member in good standing, at least 18 years of age, and not an employee or immediate family member of an employee.
Next Steps: All qualified candidates will be presented to the membership. If petitions are received, the final list of nominations will be posted at all branch locations by April 27, 2026.
2026 Board Nominees
Aron Meyer (Incumbent)
Aron Meyer is a Digital Workplace Solution Manager at Unisys, based here in Tucson. With more than 30 years’ experience helping businesses grow and overcome complex challenges through enterprise transformations, process optimization, and service automation, he designs and implements AI-led technology solutions to deliver effective, efficient, and frictionless customer experiences. A member of Pyramid FCU for almost 40 years, Aron has served on the Board for 14 years, six as Chairperson. When not achieving better outcomes for his clients or fellow CU members, Aron can be found pursuing his passion for motorsports, traveling with his wife, or playing with their dog.
Maria “Cecilia” Valdez (Incumbent)
Cecilia Valdez brings over five decades of dedicated service and leadership to the Board. A credit union member for 50 years, she has served on the Board of Directors for the last 16, ensuring stability and member-focused advocacy. A veteran labor leader, Cecilia’s career with Lumen Communications spanned 47 years, paralleled by 50 years as a Communications Workers of America (CWA) Local 7026 activist. Her union leadership includes 25 years as Secretary-Treasurer, as well as tenures as Area Vice-President and Union Steward. Currently, she chairs the District 7 Robert Lilja Members Relief Defense Fund Oversight Committee and coordinates the HOPE Golf Tournament. In 2023, Governor Katie Hobbs appointed Cecilia to the Industrial Commission of Arizona; following Senate confirmation in 2024, she will serve as Commissioner through 2029. Her community commitment extends to the American Legion Auxiliary Post 7, Arizona Jobs with Justice, and the Pima County Democratic Party. Cecilia resides with her husband, Robert; they share three children and two grandchildren.
