To make sure you keep the happy in your holidays, here are a few important holiday reminders:

1.  Make a List

Put pen to paper and make a list of all of your holiday needs, including food, travel, and gifts.

2.  Set Expectations

With news reports and empty store shelves, some of the popular items on your list may not be available this holiday season. Have a back-up plan. Remember, the true reason for the holiday season lives with family and friends over things!

3.  Put a Budget to your list

Once you’ve identified your shopping needs, look at your financial situation realistically to help decide how much you are willing and able to spend. Then, stick to your budget.

4.  Don’t Wing it

Keep track of your spending throughout the holiday season. If you found the perfect decoration or must-have gift but it wasn’t on your list, you’ll want to evaluate the rest of your spending. Unplanned purchases can add up and quickly bust your budget.

5.  Make it Personal

Not all gifts needs to be store-bought. Handmade items that come from the heart can have greater value to those receiving them. Don’t forget to include the cost of supplies in your budget.

6.  Watch for Sales

Start Early. Check coupons, including online discount finders. Take advantage of retailers Black Friday or other special sale days and promotions. Be aware of added shipping costs and delivery times to avoid unexpected charges or delays.
