Maybe that question makes you say, that’s so far away I can’t even think about it right now! Or maybe you hear that question and cringe, thinking…if only I would have started my savings earlier then I wouldn’t be so worried about those so called “Golden Years.”  Or maybe you are somewhere in between.  No matter your age or current situation regarding retirement planning – it is never too late to get started or to review where you are at to ensure that you are on the right path to meet your retirement goals.

Wait, that means you actually have to establish retirement goals as well.  Sound complicated and overwhelming to think about? Here are some simple tips to help you on your journey…and don’t worry, if you need more help it is only a phone call or email away!

If you are new to retirement planning here are some tips for you:

•    Start as soon as possible

•    Set your retirement goals

•    Plan to live a long time in retirement

•    Schedule an appointment to speak with a trusted advisor

You have your retirement plan set, but maybe haven’t thought about it in a while:

•    Are you regularly checking your investment performance?

•    Do you know what fees you are paying? Have there been changes to those fees?

•    What is your contribution level?  Could you increase it?

•    Are you on track to meet your retirement goals?  Do some adjustments need to be made if not on track?

No one knows how many years of retirement are ahead of us, but in this case it is always better to over prepare than to find yourself stressed out when you are supposed to be enjoying the rewards of retired life. So, if you haven’t started planning. START TODAY! Don’t let another day pass by without planning for your financial future. Figure out how much you anticipate needing during each year of retirement and if you have any questions at all – talk to someone who can help you figure it all out.  You are not alone in this.

Don’t know a trusted financial advisor? Give us a call, we can point you in the right direction.

At the end of the day you may very well spend more years in retirement than you did working. Make sure you are planning ahead so that they can be years of time spent with family and friends, traveling or just relaxing.
